What I Love About Writing
We continue our week of Marlene with a guest post as she shares her thoughts on writing.
“What I love about writing is a many pronged question. First and foremost, writing transports me from the everyday of black and white to the Technicolor of imagination. Committing words to laptop allows me to enter an alternate reality, my form of escapism. While teaching is my career, writing is my passion.
A secondary joy is the publishing process: the book-cover reveal, the back-cover blurb, the sense of hope as what began as a creative spark transforms into something tangible that takes on a life of its own.
A third, and unexpected perk, are the opportunities that I have enjoyed as a result of being-I still have trouble believing it-a published author. The highlights: reviews in The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post. In addition, my path has crossed with wonderful individuals who I would otherwise never have met.”
