Indie Bookstore Spotlight: Books Are Awesome

Bookstores provide so many needed services in our communities - they are a place where book nerds unite and meet, a chance to meet authors, a place to hang out and a place to get impeccable book recommendations.

This week we are virtually celebrating Indie Bookstores. And in doing my part to celebrate community I am going to spotlight bookstores all over Colorado. Why would I do such a thing as I am a bookstore (online exclusively for now...plans are under way for the brick and mortar)? In these crazy times wouldn't I want to capture as much attention and sales for my bookstore? Of course. But you know what is better than sales - people, books and bookstores. There are plenty of readers out there and plenty of bookstores. And we all have one thing in common: a passion for books.

I also believe that we can thrive together and work in harmony. In my time in Colorado I have met almost all of the bookstore owners of the major shops. We've always had fruitful conversations and interactions. And we keep each other inspired and motivated to keep going. Another common theme: getting books into the hands of readers.

Books Are Awesome is a new shop that opened in December 2019 here in Parker, CO. Owners Wendy and Danean were all smiles and cheer today when I stopped by to say hello. Folks have been stopping by for puzzles, crafts and of course books. Both owners are incredibly knowledgeable about books and eager to share that knowledge.

Currently they are open 9-5 for curbside service only. Place your orders by calling them, emailing them or shop online. Visit www.booksareawesome.org to check them out. Happy reading!
